主题:Do 99% Of People Starting Out Waste Too Much Time On BeginnI heard someone saying WILD techniques were too advanced for people just starting out, but in my opinion it's the wrong way to think.
When I look around here I see lots of people using FILD, SSILD, etc which is great, but some people obviously spend far too long with reality checks, affirmations etc.
Basic techniques should be worked on as long as it's not at the expense of WILD techniques. My reason for thinking this way is because basic techniques don't help anyone learn how to WILD.
That means in a few years when they eventually start trying to WILD they will have to start from the beginning. That is 2 years wasted when they could have become great at passing into a lucid dream from an awakened state.
Is that something you agree with? Should WILD techniques be worked on right from the beginning along with the EASIER techniques?
I've also wrote a post about it if you want to check it out -
http://lucidability.com/beginners-lucid-dreaming-mistake/If you're just starting out I know WILD is tough, but so is algebra when you're starting out. Just think how many lucid dreams you'll have per week if you start REALLY concentrating on WILD techniques right now.
I think both focusing too much on WILD and completely ignoring it in the beginning aren't the best approaches. The problem in focusing only on WILD is that it is indeed tricky for most people and the lack of results can be bad for motivation. Losing motivation right at the beginning is terrible as it can make the dreamer give up without having had a taste of lucidity.
WILD is called the holy grail of lucid dreaming sometimes so it's definitely not something to ignore, but not something to obsess about either IMHO (at least not untill you've had some lucid dreams). The problem with WILD is that it takes more than just the method itself, you need to be good at relaxing and focusing enough yet not too hard. Well, I guess other techniques are like that too.
In my personal experience I mixed them up a bit, I'd usually try MILD and WILD together so if I succeed at WILD, great, and if I just fall right asleep I might still get lucid later on due to MILD.
You can't take "too long" with reality checks; they're something you should be doing constantly.
The fact is WILD and MILD are completely different and require you to practice different things. People should practice whichever technique they find easiest. For some this is WILD, for others this is MILD. It's really down to the individual. Though I suppose there's nothing wrong with practising both at the same time.
Completely agreed. IMO, some of the "basic" stuff such as constant reality checks, training awareness etc. simply don't work. They are based on flawed theories and incorrect understandings of how dream stuff works.
Hey CI, hope you're doing well.
