My 2 biggest challenges with SSILD is that I fall asleep during the cycles, or I'm so focused on doing at least 30 seconds for each part of the the cycle that my mind drifts off topic.

I found this app and I think it might solve those problems, so I'm gonna give it a test drive. But I wanted to share it so that other people can try it too. It's always better to aim for more than one data point.

The timer part of this app seems perfect for SSILD. You can set a bell to chime after whatever interval of time you choose. And then you can set a second bell to chime after the first bell, at whatever interval of time you choose. And you can program that 2nd bell to repeat chime as many times as you choose.

    So for SSILD:

I've set the first bell to chime after 2 minutes. That will give me enough time to settle into bed and do the warm up part of the cycle, where you focus on 3 senses for just a few seconds each, for about 6 cycles. When I hear the first bell I'll know it's time to go into the longer version of the cycles, focusing my attention for 30 seconds on each of 3 senses.

I've set the second bell to chime after 30 seconds, and I've set it to repeat 18 times, every 30 seconds. So each time I hear it I will know it's time to switch my focus to another sense. 18 times is good for 6 complete cycles.

The advantage is that I won't have to wonder if I'm spending at least 30 seconds on each sense. And when I start to fall asleep, or my mind drifts, hearing the bell will wake me up or bring me back on focus.
I'm glad you are tailoring the technique to better suit you! Way to go!
