Psychologically-orientedpracticesareconcernedmainlywithchangingourgeneralpsychologicalstructureswiththepurposeofdecreasingoureverydayproblemsinrelationtoselfandothers.Incontrast,thespiritualobservancelevelisapracticelevelmainlyconcernedwithchangingourexistentialexistence,withthepurposeofdecreasingthedistancebetween,andthusuniting,ourrationalandnon-rationalabilities,orourfeminineandmasculineenergies,orourbodyandmindorsubstanceandconsciousness.Byhealingthegapsandfinallyunitingsubjectandobjectwebreakthedualisticdeterminationandentrapmentofourexistence,thusenteringintothenatureofexistence,theessentialnatureoftheuniverse.
Itshouldbenotedthatdistinguishingthesetwopracticelevelsisprovisional.Thetwolevelsfolloweachothersequentially.Onemustsolveone’smajorproblemsonapsychologicallevelbeforebeingabletosuccessfullyenterthemoresubtlespirituallevelwherechangingone’sexistentialstructuresinrelationtorealityoccurs.

Thesecondstageismasteringthedream.Inthisstage,knowingthedreamisadreamwhiledreaming,thepractitionerdevelopshisownpowerofusinghisdreambodywithvolition.Thisenableshimtodealactivelywiththedreamobjectinaway,whichissimilartothewaywedealwiththeobjectwhileawake.
Thefirststepinobtainingthepowerofmasteringthedreambodyistoconsciouslybethedreambody,asordinarilywearebeingourphysicalbodies.Beingthedreambodystillrequirestrainingthepractitionerhowtouseit.Heneedstogetallthesensestoworkproperlyandtobeabletomovethedreambodyatwill.
Nextthepractitionertrainshiswillpowerthroughthedreambodyinordertofurtherinvestigatethatwhichcaptureshisinterest.Whenthisstepismasteredhehastheabilitytoacknowledgedisturbingpsychologicalstructuresemerginginthedream,andfurther,hehastheabilitytoworkdirectlyinthedreamstatewiththem.
Inthiscontext,Iwillmentionsomemethodsthepractitionercanusetoworkdirectlywithfearwhenconfrontedwithnegativeaspectsinthedreamscene(thedreamobject),anddiscusshow/whythesemethodswork.Thepractitionerisad-visednevertofleethenegativity,buttoeitherfightit,orbetterstill,toletthenegativitydestroyhimself.Inotherwords,unitewithnegativity.Inordertounderstandwhythesemethodswork,wemustunderstandthedynamicbetweennegativityandthesubjectbeingconfrontedbyit.Herewehavetoreachbacktothebasicpsychologypresentedearlierunderthethirdskandha,wherewefoundthatpleasantfeelingsariseincontactwiththeobjectwhentheobjectseemstonourishand/orprotectourimageofourself,andunpleasantfeelingsarisewhenourimageofourselfisendangered.Thus,withinmyinterpretationandexperience,thenegativityfrighteningthepractitionerinthedreamisapicture/representationofthepractitioner’sfearofhavinghisself-imagedestroyed.
Ifapractitionerfleesanegativity,hemissestheopportunitytoworkwithhisself-imageandwiththefearofhavingitdestroyed.Instead,throughthisactionhemanifestshisself-imageevenfurther.Secondly,ifthepractitionerfightsthatwhichwilldestroyhisself-image,hecreatesafeelingofbeingprotectedinhimself,andhewillthereforefeelerbothinthedream,andalso,itwouldseem,inwakingreality.Thirdly,thepractitionercanletanegativitydestroyhimselfinthedream,i.e.hecanunitewiththenegativity.Whenanegativitydestroysthedreamsubject,itdestroysthatwhichthepractitioneridentifieswithandthereforewants/needstoprotect,hisself-image.However,whenthisisdestroyedthepractitionergoesbeyondthisimageofhimselfandreachesamoreauthenticlayerofhisbeing.Nolongeridentifyingwiththeimage,thereisnothingtomaintainthegameoffearandnegativity,whichiswhytherenolongerisanyfearornegativity.Thepractitionerhasunitedhimselfwithhisfearandnegativity.Throughthisact,itseemstome,hehasresolvedunderlyingpsychologicalproblems.
Havingobtainedtheabilitytomasterthedreamitispossibleforapractitionertodomanydifferentandpossiblyunusualthingswithinthedream.If,forinstance,thepractitionerwantstounderstandcertainthings,itcouldbewithinthesciencesorwithinphilosophy,psychology,thearts,hecan—throughvariousmethods—contactortuneintoenergy-linesoftheknowledgehewantstoacquire.Thedreamstategivesspecialpossibilitiestodoso,duetoitsnaturallyerunitybetweenbody/mindandsubject/object.
StageThree
Thethirdstageischangingthedream.Imentionedabovethatthecorepointinthedreamyogawastobreakorgobeyondourdualisticwayofexistence.Inthisstagethepractitionerissupposedtostartdirectlybreakingsomeofourestbeliefs:thebeliefinthesolidnessandabsolutenessoftheobject,thebeliefinourseparatenessfromtheobject,thebeliefintimelinearityandspacefixation.Thus,inordertochangethedreamobject,apractitionerhastotrainherselftogowithinthewillpowerofherdreambody/mind,contactingthebasicstructuringenergythroughwhichshecancontactthedreamobjectofthesameenergylevel.Onthisverysubtlestructuringlevelofbeing,thereisacorrespondencebetweentheenergyofthesubjectandtheobject,throughwhichdirectcontactispossible.Throughthisdirectenergycontactthepractitionercanchangetheobject,and/orcancreateobjectsatwill.
Inordertolearnhowtogointothissubtlestructuringlevelofbeing,thepractitioneristraditionallyinstructedtousedifferentdeity-meditationsinthedreamstate.However,tousethese,certaininitiationsarerequired.Whenthepractitionercantuneintothissubtlestructuringenergyofthesubjectandtheobject,anduseitforchangingtheobject,sheisbreakingtheordinarynaturallawsofseparateness.Afterobtainingthisability,apractitionerisable,byherwillpowerandunityabilities,totranscendordinaryspaceandtimelimitations.
Whenthepractitionerwasworkingwiththedreamobject,shehadtoworkfromhermorerational/activechakraenergyside,stillkeepingabalanceinordernottoawakefromthedreamstate.Butapproachingthetrainingoftheunityabilitiesofsubject/object,thepractitionerisadvisedtoworkmorethroughthenonrational,nonactive,feminineenergyside.
AsIhavementionedbefore,differentlevelsofimprints,ofmoreorlessproblematicobservances,giverisetothemainpartofthedream.Havingsufficientlymasteredthedream,thepractitionernaturallyandspontaneouslydoesseemtoknowwhichmethodtouseinsuccessfullydealingwithdreamappearances,andthroughthesewiththeunderlyingconsciousnessenergy.Theseneededtocomeouttobelivedorworkedthrough.Afterhavingmasteredthemethodsofchangingdreamappearances,thepractitionercannowchangeunwanted,unpleasantdreamsituationsorherdreambeing.Thisactseemstohaveadirecthealingimpactontheunderlyingpsychologicaldifficultiesassociatedwithherwakinglife.
StageFour(这个有点猛)
Thefourthandlaststageofdreamyogaistomergewiththeunityofthesubtlebody/mind.Herethepractitionerisnolongerworkingwiththedreamobject/appearances.Henowworksdirectlythroughtheunityofthesubtlefeminineandmasculineenergiesofhisdreamsubject,goingbeyonddreamappearances.Fromthisstateofbeing,whichiscloselyconnectedwiththeabovementionedstateoftheillusorybody,thepractitionerworksdirectlywithhisrelationshiptothewakingstatereality,alsobreakingtheordinarynaturallawsoftherealityofthewakingstate.
